چکیده

We present a single-chip image processing solution for industrial vision systems. A processor matrix is interleaved with a photo diode matrix. The circuit solution is well suited for both gray scale and binary operations on images. A gray scale image is obtained by using the time needed to integrate the photo-current to a certain voltage. The photo-diode read-out unit is built with a minimal set of components, and provides good matching between pixels. The power supply can be adjusted to minimize the power consumption. A number of operations, that show the computing capacity, are presented.

A VLSI sorting image sensor: global massively parallel intensity-to-time processing for low-latency adaptive vision

This paper presents a new intensity–to–time processing paradigm suitable for VLSI computational sensor implementation of global operations over sensed images. Global image quantities usually describe images with fewer data. When computed at the point of sensing, global quantities result in a low– latency performance due to the reduced data transfer requirements between an image sensor and a pro...

VLSI Circuits and Systems for Directional-Edge-Based Intelligent Image Processing

The continuous progress in semiconductor VLSI technologies during the past several decades has provided the opportunity of realizing real-time intelligent image processing systems such as image recognition, object tracking, motion recognition, etc. However, the traditional approach of running image processing algorithms on general purpose processors is not practical for building efficient syste...

Pulsed Multi-Layered Image Filtering: A VLSI Implementation

Image convolution similar to the receptive fields found in mammalian visual pathways has long been used in conventional image processing in the form of Gabor masks. However, no VLSI implementation of parallel, multi-layered pulsed processing has been brought forward which would emulate this property. We present a technical realization of such a pulsed image processing scheme. The discussed IC a...

A VLSI Hamming Artificial Neural Network with k-Winner-Take-All and k-Loser-Take-All Capability

A novel circuit-level Hamming artificial neural network architecture based on the principle of analog chargebased computation of the neural function is proposed. kwinner-take-all and k-loser-take-all operations are performed in the time-domain, allowing for fast and compact realization of complex functions. The VLSI realization of a twodimensional array arrangement of the Hamming network is pre...
